Mr.
Ronald F. Deaton
Chief Legislative Analyst, City Council
City Hall, 200 N. Spring Street, Suite 255
Los Angeles, California 90012
Dear
Mr. Deaton:
On April
22, 2003, the City Council approved the Burglary Alarm
Task Force’s report on verified burglary alarms and
forwarded it to the Board of Police Commissioners for their
consideration. Attached is the Police Commission staff’s
analysis of those recommendations for your consideration.
It is anticipated that this matter will be placed on the
Commission’s agenda for June 17, 2003.
The
Burglary Alarm Task Force recognized that “successful
implementation of the recommendations of the Task Force
is dependent upon the City knowing all the alarm users
in the City.” While in the past the alarm industry
has been unwilling to provide their client lists to the
City unconditionally, it is requested that the Office of
the Chief Legislative Analyst attempt to obtain this information
from the alarm industry. When the Commission hears this
matter, it would be appreciated if your office could inform
the Commission on the level of compliance you were able
to obtain.
Your
assistance in resolving this matter is greatly appreciated.
Please contact me directly if I can be of any assistance
or provide any clarification you may require.
Very
truly yours,
Original
signed by:
Dan
Koenig, Executive Director
Board of Police Commissioners
