Dear Youth Festival Partners,
I am writing this letter to inform you that we have decided to reschedule
the date of the 2003 Youth Festival which is scheduled for this Saturday June
21st at the Los Angeles Convention Center until fall 2003.
We know you have worked hard to prepare for your workshop(s) and on the Youth
Festival committee to prepare for this event, and we apologize for any inconvenience
this change of date may have caused your organization.
The reason for the date
change is that there is an adult oriented event taking place at the Convention
Center on the same day as the Youth Festival and there will be people attending
who would pose a security risk to the 2,000 children attending our event.
Although
we were aware that this event was running simultaneously with the Youth Festival,
we only recently became aware of the heightened security threat the children
attending the event would be potentially exposed to. It is not a risk we need
to take.
Therefore, we are rescheduling the Youth Festival at the Los Angeles Convention
Center for some time in October or early November and would love to have your
organization conduct the workshop you were planning on doing this Saturday.
Again, we are sorry about this change in date and do hope you can join us
in the fall. We will be sending you updated information about the new date
of the event soon.
