Implementation
of TeamWork LA
to promote neighborhood-based government
TeamWork LA is an initiative designed to foster a more neighborhood-oriented
focus to the delivery of City services. It facilitates
inter-Departmental collaboration and it allows City residents
to more readily access the City services they need. |
|
Mayor
Hahn announced TeamWork LA at the end of 2002, calling
it a Community-Based Government Initiative. His Executive
Order
No. AP-2 included a 10 Point Plan, designed to shorten
the distance between the various neighborhoods and
City Hall.
A cornerstone of this initiative is the organization of
seven "Neighborhood
Service Areas" that reflect
the geographic boundaries of the City's already existing seven Area Planning
Districts.
Each region has its own Area Director, a representative of the Mayor's Office.
Here
are the Neighborhood Service Areas and their contacts:
Within each Neighborhood Service Area there are "Neighborhood
Service Cabinets" ... one for each Area.
All General Managers of Departments/Offices and Commissions of City Departments
that provide services to residents were directed by the Mayor to: |
|
Serve
in these Cabinets as Core and Associate members. |
|
Identify
Assistant General Managers, or their equivalent, who will
participate in applicable Cabinet meetings. |
|
Redraw
service delivery districts to bring them into conformity
with the geographic boundaries of the seven Area Planning
Districts. |
So ...
within each Neighborhood Service Area, the Mayor’s
Office convenes a Neighborhood Service Cabinet (NSC), consisting
of managerial representatives from every City department
that provides direct services to residents and businesses
(Police, Fire, Building and Safety, Planning, Street Services,
Street Lighting, Water and Power, Sanitation, Animal Services,
Recreation and Parks, among others).
These Neighborhood Service Cabinets meet on a monthly
basis to discuss ways to improve the coordination between
departments and better serve the specific needs of that Area.
Cabinet members also seek the input
of local City Councilmembers and Certified Neighborhood Councils
as a means of improving the delivery of city services throughout
the region. |
