8th Annual Leadership Conference

The National Center for Women
& Policing is holding its 8th Annual Leadership Conference in Los
Angeles, CA, at the Wilshire Grand Hotel from April 22-26, 2003.
The conference is intended to give participants a deeper understanding
of the dynamics and impacts greater numbers of women make on the
culture, operations and efficacy of law enforcement.
This year's conference features sessions with nationally recognized
experts on some of the most critical law enforcement issues of our
day including countering the trafficking of human beings, new initiatives
for ending violence against women, preventing gender discrimination,
and strategies for monitoring domestic terrorism.

The Participants
Women leaders who work in federal, state and local law enforcement
are encouraged to attend, as well as criminal justice researchers,
educators, prosecutors, and elected and appointed public officials
working to improve law enforcement.
The Curriculum
Through this challenging leadership development program, participants
will explore the potential impact of increasing the role and leadership
of women in policing to help solve the most critical issues confronting
our law enforcement system today. The program emphasizes the imperative
of women law enforcement leaders to use their vision and influence
to increase the numbers of women in law enforcement, and to increase
the impact of women's policy-making.
Each conference presented by the National Center for Women & Policing
consists of three main themes: Increasing Women in Law Enforcement,
Innovations in Policing that Address Community Needs and Violence
Against Women, and Leadership Development.
