We hope you will join us for a very exciting National forum for youth involved in the Hip Hop culture, adults, and providers that work with youth to share information and experiences about maintaining healthy lifestyles, and forming and sustaining relationships that may lead to healthy marriages, and strengthen families and communities.

The African-American Healthy Marriage: What's Hip Hop Got To Do With It? Forum will take place at the University of Southern California (USC) Davidson Executive Conference Center on September 24th and 25th in downtown Los Angeles.

It will consist of a two-day forum starting on Friday evening, September 24, 2004 at 5:00 PM and continue on Saturday, September 25, 2004, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Representatives from national organizations including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Opportunities Industrialization Centers (OIC), and the Centre for New Black Leadership (CNBL) have joined in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services and other national and local community organizations in proposing a strategy aimed at encouraging youth involved with the Hip Hop culture to mobilize and educate their peers about making healthy choices and establishing healthy relationships.

This forum will encourage positive social interactions between youth and adults, creative input and discussion of the Hip Hop culture as it relates to positive youth development. The forum will include a mix of educational/informational workshops, theater, music, networking and opportunities for discussion about issues facing youth and their families today.

It is designed to educate and inform participants on the current research, best practices, funding opportunities, and available resources, and how to effectively incorporate relationship and marriage education into the very valuable services that community and faith-based organizations provide to youth.
