Night Out - 2004
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Los Angeles: On Tuesday, August 3, 2004, the Los Angeles
Police Department (LAPD), the Office of Mayor James K. Hahn, and
communities that make up Los Angeles, will join together to celebrate
the 21st Annual National Night Out.
This annual event heightens awareness and strengthens participation
in local anticrime efforts and promotes police-community partnerships.
LAPD Stations from around the City have coordinated cook-outs, block
parties, candlelight vigils, safety fairs, peace marches and community
meetings with members of their Neighborhood Watch Groups, Community
Police Advisory Boards or Volunteer Groups.
A list of local events and more detailed information of activities,
times and locations for the 21st Annual National Night Out can be
found under the LAPD's National
Night Out page.
During the news conference, a candlelight vigil, peace march and
special tribute to members of the Armed Forces will commence.
