Dear Neighbor,
Los Angeles is in a financial crunch and we are afraid that city leaders are about to make some dangerous budget choices. We hope you will help us tell City Hall to put Public Safety First by signing our petition to fully fund the Los Angeles Police Department.
Facing a budget shortage and the possibility of the state “borrowing” local taxes, the city government is threatening to lay off or furlough thousands of employees. Just this week the mayor warned that Los Angeles could lose as many as 1,400 officers if the state raids additional revenue.
This will result in a reduced police presence in your neighborhood and increased response times in emergencies.
At the same time, the governor is planning to transfer 23,000 criminals from state prisons to overcrowded county prisons, which will result in early releases of these inmates – some of whom may be violent and repeat offenders.
We can't risk the disastrous combination of fewer officers and more criminals in our communities.
If you live, work or visit Los Angeles, or love someone who does, please join us in protecting the security of our city. Click here to sign the online petition urging City Hall to keep public safety as its number-one priority .
Thank you for partnering with us to keep Los Angeles safe.
Very truly yours,
PAUL M. WEBER , President
