The following is a brief summary of what you can expect at this year's Congress of Neighborhoods:

Empower LA 2009: A Congress of Neighborhoods is a powerful one-day opportunity featuring intensive workshops, forums and meetings for residents, Neighborhood Council leaders, community activists, and local non-profit organizations. This event with citywide reach calls together the people of Los Angeles to learn about, discuss, and act on the pressing issues that City government and neighborhoods can best address together for long-term success. Everyone in the City is invited!

The 2009 Congress will feature: workshops that will improve neighborhood stakeholders understanding of how the City works, and how to outreach and advocate for community betterment; forums during which experts will provide the latest information on hot-button issues the City must address, and face-to-face meetings with City officials, Neighborhood Council leaders and City Department representatives.
