President Obama has called on Americans to submit ideas that will put our country back to work. The best of these will not only employ the currently unemployed, but will offer training that will advance career opportunities, take advantage of American resources and services and provide useful, sustainable domestic and international commercial products for years to come.

A meaningful economic stimulus job-creation package that will provide employment opportunities for many thousands of Americans is well within our grasp. It can include citizens of all levels of experience and skill sets, and can be launched immediately.
Its entirely possible to imagine the Federal Government may wish to consider benefit packages for Americans who agree to volunteer to serve a certain number of years, much as is offered to our military. These could include educational opportunities, home or business loan assistance and health care plans.
Citizens who devote their time and energy to the plan will emerge heads high, with the understandable pride that they have participated in an important and distinctly American program, FOOD.Corps. |
