It may save your child's life

On June 28, 2001, my wife, Tina, and infant son, Zacharia, died in a car accident. I was devastated and wanted answers. Why had my son been killed? He'd been strapped into an approved and properly installed child car seat!

In search for an answer I found out that car seats are tested for front and rear impact, not side-to-side impact. The accident with my wife and son caused the vehicle to roll over on its side .. and Zacharia died from a broken neck.

Like most people, my wife and I did not buy the most expensive car seat, nor the the least inexpensive car seat. We did what most parents do. We bought the middle-of-the-line car seat that we thought was the safest. My research later showed that on the most expensive child car seats, those which cost around $300-$400, neck supports are built in.

But it seemed to me there had to be a better answer than that.

I started searching to see if anything else could have prevented my son's broken neck, and found a very inexpensive item called "The Cradler" made by Kiddopumus.

And this simple product may save your child's life.

The National Transportation Authority says that they are not needed in a car, but at one time neither were seat belts or car seats. Look at how times have changed! It is only through education that simple neck supports will they will become mandatory in children's car seats.

I am not saying that by having one of these neck supports for children in a rolling, flipping, side-impact car accidents means they'll all survive .. but they'll be given a much better chance.

Getting the product into parents hands .. and back seats ..

I am a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, a wonderful family fraternity. I talked with my fellow members about the neck support and they got excited about it. So we launched the Zacharia Fund, named after my son, consisting of private contributions.

Each one of these neck supports costs $11.00 commercially, but I go through the manufacture and I buy them at cost for $5.00.

Since February 15, 2009, which would have been my son's 10 birthday, the Moose organization has seen to it that children born in Lake County, California, leave the hospital with one of these neck supports free of charge, and we have since expanded to Sonoma County as well.

In May of 2009 it was voted that every lodge in our District (which is 5 lodges -- Clearlake Oaks, which is my home lodge, Sonoma lodge, Santa Rosa lodge, Petaluma lodge, and Ukiah lodge) would support the work of the Zacharia Fund, so that at this point there are 5 lodges that have taken on the project.

I am very excited that at the California/Nevada Moose convention in Palm Springs, Sept 9-12, the Zacharia Fund is being brought to a vote that every lodge in the both California and Nevada will participate in the Zacharia Fund.

EDITOR'S UPDATE: The Zacharia Fund and "Cradler" project were officially approved as Loyal Order of the Moose efforts at the Palm Springs CA/NV Moose convention in Septemeber, 2010. Now the 800-some Moose Lodges in the two states, and all their members, will support getting these life saving devices to the families of every newborn in both states !!!

I often wonder what my life would be like now if I had known about these simple $11 neck supports before my family's tragic accident. I might still have my son today.

The Moose organization would like to see the distribution of "The Cradler" grow to the point where every newborn across the country might be able to leave the hospital with their very own "Cradler."

Order a FREE Cradler directly through me, no matter where you are ..

If you have any questions about "The Cradler" (or for information about how to make a tax deductible contribution to support the Zacharia Fund) please feel free to email me at byronblackwell7@yahoo.com or call me at 707-998-3740

Thank you very much,

Byron Blackwell

PS: We'll be very grateful for any and all contributions to the Zacharia Fund that will help the Loyal Order of Moose offset the cost of this worthy project.
