Aug. 31, 2011 – 13 arrested in international car theft ring
Nine suspects in Detroit and four suspects in San Diego have been arrested for their alleged role in a large scale car theft scheme – a scheme that transshipped stolen luxury sedans, SUVs and other vehicles to Iraq. These arrests are the result of an extensive two-year investigation, known as "Operation Hot Wheels," which was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Aug. 31, 2011 – Iowa roofing business owner pleads guilty to harboring illegal aliens
Samira Zuniga, the owner of Xtreme Construction, an Iowa roofing company, pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday to harboring and conspiring to harbor illegal aliens. On April 26, ICE HSI arrested nine illegal aliens employed by Xtreme Construction in Hiawatha, Iowa, while working on a residential roofing job. Full Story
Aug. 31, 2011 – 'America's Most Wanted' fugitive arrested
Special agents from ICE HSI and the FBI arrested Eric Antwan Bell, a federal fugitive, in Parsippany, N.J., on Wednesday. Bell was wanted for engaging in the sex trafficking a minor, the production of child pornography and illegal possession of a firearm. Full Story
Aug. 30, 2011 – Owners/operators of New Mexico gun shop arrested on federal firearms-smuggling and money-laundering charges
On Tuesday morning, the owner of a New Mexico gun shop, his wife and their two sons were arrested on firearms-smuggling and money-laundering charges. These arrests were the result of an intense seven-month investigation spearheaded by ICE HSI. Full Story
Aug. 30, 2011 – 60 indicted in massive drug and gun sting operation
Twenty-six people were indicted in federal court on firearms and drug trafficking charges following a year-long undercover sting operation centered in Mansfield, Ohio. The operation targeted convicted felons who trafficked firearms and drugs. Full Story
