Nov. 9, 2011 — Massachusetts man charged with importing and selling untaxed cigarettes

Mohamad Mohamad of Cambridge, Mass., was arrested Wednesday and charged with importing and selling hundreds of thousands of packages of contraband cigarettes in Rhode Island. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) participated in the five-state investigation that involved both federal and state law enforcement agencies.

Nov. 9, 2011 — Brazilian woman convicted of visa fraud conspiracy involving more than 1,000 illegal workers

Rafaela Dutra Toro worked for a temporary labor staffing company in Orlando, Fla., which provided temporary labor to the hospitality industry. She and her co-conspirators submitted false documentation to the government and manipulated the H-2B foreign worker visa process.

Nov. 8, 2011 — 2 arrested in Georgia worksite enforcement operation

A Georgia couple accused of harboring illegal aliens for commercial advantage and then laundering the proceeds was arrested Friday following an investigation by ICE HSI, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigations Division and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Nov. 7, 2011 — 2 sentenced for role in gang-run juvenile sex trafficking scheme

ICE HSI helped spearhead an investigation focused on a gang-run sex trafficking scheme involving underage girls. This week, two defendants involved in the scheme were each sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Nov. 7, 2011 — First Tennessee business becomes IMAGE partner with ICE

J.A. Fielden, a general contractor, became the first Tennessee business to join the ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) program. The program aims to reduce fraud and the hiring of illegal workers.
