A Plano, Texas, man was sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in a health care fraud conspiracy and providing false information to obtain citizenship. This case was investigated by HSI and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

May 8, 2012 — Federal law enforcement agencies join movie industry to unveil new anti-piracy warning
The National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center ( IPR Center ), led by HSI, joined together with the FBI and six major American movie studios to launch an updated anti-piracy warning to be displayed on new movie releases. For the first time, the HSI badge appears alongside the FBI anti-piracy warning seal. A second screen displays the center's logo with an educational message.

May 7, 2012 — Mexican man sentenced to 20 years for cocaine trafficking
A Mexican man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy with intent to distribute 15 to 50 kilograms of cocaine. The investigation that led to the guilty plea was spearheaded by HSI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
