The stragglers of Park Center
When the Los Angeles Police Department moved into a gleaming $440 million headquarters building in October 2009, some 1,800 cops were more than happy to ditch Parker Center, their dilapidated, earthquake-damaged former home. Yet, more than two years after the chief of police, the command staff and most of the rest of the men and women in blue moved a block-and-a-half away to the sleek, AECOM-designed Police Administration Building, some 150 LAPD staffers still punch their cards each day at Parker Center.
