Stanley Cup Final: 3 arrests made during Kings game, LAPD says
At least three people were arrested during the Kings failed bid to clinch a Stanley Cup sweep, police said Wednesday night. The arrests were for battery, theft and being drunk in public, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police officials said fans were generally well-behaved during the team's 3-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils and as crowds spilled onto streets after the game. The LAPD said it took steps to prevent unruly crowds from engaging in the type of violence that had marred previous Lakers championships.

San Jose unions sue to block pension reform
San Jose police officers and firefighters Wednesday made good on promises to legally challenge San Jose's voter-approved pension reform with a pair of lawsuits filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. San Jose voters Tuesday approved Measure B by a nearly 70-percent margin. Mayor Chuck Reed championed the measure to control pension costs that have soared from $73 million to $245 million in a decade and are projected to continue rising, outpacing revenues and forcing the city to cut staffing and services to residents to cover the bill.

California pension cuts may have ripple effect
Decisive victories for ballot proposals cutting retirement benefits for government workers in two of the largest cities in the U.S. emboldened advocates seeking to curb pensions in state capitols and city halls across the nation. The voter responses in San Diego and San Jose were stinging setbacks for public employee unions, which also came up short on Republican Gov. Scott Walker's recall victory in Wisconsin.
