Jan. 17, 2013 — ICE busts significant sex trafficking ring operating from Florida to North Carolina
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the results of a lengthy investigation, called Operation Dark Night, into a sex trafficking ring operating in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. The investigation, which was led by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations ( HSI ), led to a takedown in which authorities made 13 criminal arrests and 44 administrative arrests tied to the investigation, as well as the rescue of as many as 11 victims.

Jan. 17, 2013 — ICE deports Mexican murder suspect living in Salt Lake City area
A 41-year-old Mexican national wanted for murder by authorities in Baja California was removed Wednesday by ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations ( ERO ) officers.

Jan. 16, 2013 — HSI arrest a Hong Kong man for selling and smuggling stolen US military equipment into the US
A Hong Kong man was arrested at the San Francisco International Airport and presented in federal court in the Northern District of California. The arrest is the result of an investigation by HSI and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS). Kwok Kuen Leung, 38, faces charges for allegedly selling equipment that had been stolen from the U.S. military and for smuggling that equipment and other items into the United States.

Jan. 16, 2013 — 2 Guatemalan men receive lengthy sentences in Arizona drop house hostage case
Two Guatemalan men were sentenced by a federal judge Monday to lengthy prison terms for their roles in a hostage-taking conspiracy that resulted in the violent treatment of smuggled aliens held captive in a Mesa drop house. The sentences follow the pair's October conviction by a federal jury on charges stemming from a probe led by HSI.

Jan.15, 2013 — Nigerian man pleads guilty to wire fraud charges in craigslist scam
A Nigerian man pleaded guilty in federal court to a scheme to defraud individuals who were selling items and applying for jobs on Internet website craigslist. The guilty plea is the result of an investigation conducted by HSI.
