Los Angeles police officers will be required to wear body cameras sometime this year. On McIntyre in the Morning the President of the Los Angeles Police Protective League Craig Lally said, the department id not want to rush to put the cameras out until a good policy was in place. “We worked for 8 months to get this thing right,” said Lally.

Zakiyyah El A'min, 60, was with Kevin Walker Jones when she was last seen at about 1 p.m. on March 23 at the New Terminal Hotel on Seventh Street in downtown Los Angeles, Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese of the LAPD said during a news conference Thursday.

Homicide Investigation Underway In Cypress Park
Police Thursday investigated a deadly shooting in Cypress Park. Officers were sent shortly before 2:30 a.m. to the 600 block of North San Fernando Road near Pepper Avenue for report of a shooting with a victim down, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Upon their arrival, homicide detectives located a person in their 20s suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

LAX Knife Attacker Thought Man Was Obama's Son: Police
A man was slashed in the face at Los Angeles International Airport early Friday by an attacker who thought he was President Barack Obama's son, police said. The victim was found when officers responded to reports of an altercation between Terminal 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal at around 12:30 a.m, a Los Angeles Airport Police spokeswoman said. The victim, who was slashed on the neck and head, was taken to Ronald Reagan Medical Center in stable condition. He had been sitting in his car waiting to pick up his brother, who works at the airport, when he was attacked.

Homeless services commissioner calls for probe of skid row shooting
A homeless services commissioner on Thursday called for an independent investigation into the death of a man who was shot and killed by Los Angeles police during a confrontation on skid row. The Rev. Kelvin Sauls, pastor at Holman United Methodist Church of Los Angeles, called Charly Leundeu Keunang "one of many unarmed black men who have died at the hands of the LAPD" and said his death should not be overlooked because he was homeless.

When George Holliday recorded grainy footage of Los Angeles police officers beating Rodney King outside his apartment in 1991, he sold the video to KTLA for $500 and watched it become a worldwide sensation. This year, a man used his cellphone to record a fatal LAPD shooting on skid row and uploaded the footage to Facebook, where it drew millions of viewers. Now, in a sign of how amateur video has heightened scrutiny of police conduct, the American Civil Liberties Union has created an app for that.

Amended California Police Body Camera Bill Advances
In the face of strenuous resistance from law enforcement groups, a California Assembly committee Thursday amended a bill multiple times to allow police officers in most cities to review body camera footage before detailing incidents involving force. It took considerable maneuvering to advance Assembly Bill 66 out of the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee. Every Republican on the committee abstained in the vote, and supporters had to scramble to persuade Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Campbell, who had voted for the bill in a previous committee, to switch to the deciding “yes” vote.
