LAPD praises expertise and efficiency of UAE Police
The expertise of the Security Support Department in the Abu Dhabi Police and the efficiency of the UAE police in combating and uncovering crimes in record time was lauded by Charlie Beck, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The LAPD Chief expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to get acquainted with the leading experience in police work, which earned the UAE a prominent position among the world's most secure countries and a prestigious reputation for the remarkable and distinguished police and security efforts.

Ex-LAPD officer accused in Pomona killing extradited to California
An ex-Los Angeles police officer accused of shooting a man outside a Pomona bar has been brought back to California from Texas to face a murder charge, officials confirmed Thursday. Henry Solis, 27, was booked in the Pomona city jail Thursday afternoon after the extradition went “without any issues,” Pomona police Deputy Chief Michael Olivieri wrote on Twitter. Solis was moved from El Paso, Texas, where he had been held for a little over a week.

Man in Custody in Connection With Killings of His Wife, Infant Son in South L.A., Authorities Say
A 26-year-old man was in custody early Friday morning in connection with the killings of his wife and infant son, who were pronounced dead Thursday at the family's South-L.A. home, authorities said. Few details were immediately available about Algernon Rieux's apprehension, which was confirmed by spokespersons for the Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Division and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

$50,000 reward offered for information in killing of North Hollywood man
Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian joined authorities Thursday to offer a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the killing of a 53-year-old North Hollywood man. Los Angeles firefighters doing a welfare check on Nov. 23 found the body of Suren “Chris” Donoyan in his apartment in the 5400 block of Tujunga Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head. Los Angeles police detectives say they have exhausted leads and need the public's help in finding Donoyan's killer, whose motive is unknown.

Son Fights Off Man Attempting to Sexually Assault His Mother in Glendale
A 20-year-old man fought off an intruder who was attempting to sexually assault his mother in their Glendale home late Wednesday night, police said. The incident began about 11 p.m. when police responded to a burglary call and arrested a man matching the intruder's description at a Taco Bell parking lot not far from the home, Sgt. Luis Pasache of the Glendale Police Department said.

672 pounds of cocaine found in Victorville-Santa Fe Springs bust
Five people were arrested and nearly 700 pounds of cocaine seized in what officials on Thursday called the largest cocaine bust in the state in recent memory, spanning from the Inland Empire to Los Angeles County.
