LAPD finds 1,200 guns, two tons of ammo in dead man's Pacific Palisades home
It wasn't what police expected to find when they searched a man's Pacific Palisades home last week. More than 1,200 guns were strewn about the Palisades Drive house and garage, police said. The weapons ranged from high-end pistols to shotguns and rifles. Many had never been fired. Some were still wrapped in their boxes, with the price tags still attached. It was a "staggering number of guns," said LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith. Police also found roughly two tons of ammunition.

A 57-year-old man has died after police say he was attacked during a carjacking over the weekend. They didn't have to beat him like they did. They didn't,” said Virginia Kelly, the victim's sister. Kelly described Rosas as a good man who kept to himself and worked hard as a security guard at a nearby hospital. He also took care of his mother, who is disabled. Detectives say Rosas was coming home from work around 11:30 p.m. July 18.

Corona Mother ‘Shocked' After Young Son Buys Realistic Toy Gun From Ice Cream Truck
A mother is speaking out after she says her young son purchased a realistic-looking toy gun from an ice cream truck. Jennifer Vendramini's 9-year-old son bought the toy gun from an ice cream truck she says frequents her Corona neighborhood and is concerned over the dangers the toy presents. “I was shocked,” Vendramini stated. “I had no idea something like that could be purchased off an ice cream truck.” While the gun is sold with an orange tip to indicate that it is not real, Vendramini says it would be easy for a child to discard that feature.

Pensions

Measure of Deception: Initiative Would Gut Retirement Benefits for Millions of Californians
When Democratic former San Jose mayor Chuck Reed and Republican ex-San Diego councilmember Carl DeMaio finally unveiled the language for a promised attempt at getting a statewide public pension cutting measure to 2016 voters, the expectation was that Reed II would be a reined-in and more realistically-framed version of Reed I – last year's failed attempt at undermining the public pension system.
