'Blue Lives Matter,' police and supporters say at Hollywood rally
The event was organized by the Los Angeles Police Protective League as part of an effort to counter demonstrations nationwide in the aftermath of several high-profile police killings of unarmed civilians, and to decry the fatal “ambush” shooting of an officer in Houston a month ago and the similar killing of two New York City officers in late 2014. Kaiser Pemanente, LAPD Hold Drug Take Back Events
Kaiser Permanente and the Los Angeles Police Department held prescription drug take back events Saturday. There were five collection sites, all of them are Kaiser Permanente medical centers in West Los Angeles, Panorama City, Harbor City, Hollywood and Woodland Hills. Officials provided the service as a way to help people get rid of unused prescription drugs and avoid potential safety and health hazards.

LAPD investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in South LA
A woman was shot and killed Sunday by an officer from Newton Division in South Los Angeles, a police spokesman said. “About 9:30 a.m., officers from Newton Division responded to a call at 22nd Street and South San Pedro Street about a woman armed with some sort of blade,” Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Mike Lopez said. “An officer- involved-shooting occurred and a knife was recovered at the scene.” Paramedics were dispatched at 9:42 a.m. to a “reported shooting” call in the 2100 block of South San Pedro Street. They rushed one person to a nearby hospital, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Caught on Camera: Hit-and-Run Driver Crashes Into Highland Park Cafe
Police were searching for a driver who was caught on camera after slamming through the wall of a popular cafe and fleeing the scene in Highland Park early Sunday morning. The crash happened in the 5000 block of York Boulevard about 2 a.m. when witnesses said they saw a driver of a pickup truck burning rubber along the street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Studio City Stabbing Suspect On The Loose
North Hollywood police are on the lookout for a man suspected of stabbing another man on Saturday September 26, in a Studio City restaurant. According to witnesses, the stabbing took place on the balcony of the high-end Russian eatery, Romanov Restaurant and Lounge, located at 12229 Ventura Blvd. The suspect and the victim were part of two groups who were on the balcony at around 11:20 P.M. The two men got into a direct altercation that resulted in the victim being stabbed in the stomach. It was then that the LAPD says the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a black Mercedes. Following his escape, the man is thought to have fired a number of gunshots near the restaurant.

Seven council members announced last week that they plan to put that amount into a fresh bid to combat homelessness, just as tents and encampments have spread to nearly every neighborhood. Before Deciding On Potential Minimum Wage Increase, City Council Turns To the Public
The debate about increasing the minimum wage is coming to Long Beach, starting with a series of community meetings aimed at engaging city officials with the public. On Aug. 11, Vice Mayor and Second District City Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal brought a motion to study the impact a bump in the minimum wage would have on workers and business owners. The motion was co-sponsored by First District Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez, Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews and Ninth District Councilman Rex Richardson, and was approved unanimously by the council.
