LAPD Union Joins NYPD in Quentin Tarantino Boycott After Director Refers to ‘Murder' at Rally
The Los Angeles police union has joined the NYPD union in a boycott of the films of Quentin Tarantino in response to the director referring to "murder" in connection with police brutality at a New York rally over the weekend. Tarantino flew in from California to join marchers in Manhattan in protest of police brutality on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

LAPD Launches Campaign Aimed At Reducing LA's Hit-And-Run Crimes
The Los Angeles Police Department and its partners unveiled a new campaign aimed at reducing the number of hit-and-runs across Los Angeles. The public service effort is focusing on L.A. after 27 people in the area were killed in 2014 alone and another 144 were injured. Of all cases, less than 20 percent of them have been solved. As part of the campaign, 10 anti-hit-run billboards will be placed around the city to remind drivers that staying to aid a victim is crucial.

Pacoima Woman Charged With Killing LAPD Officer In Crash Expected To Appear In Court
A Pacoima woman who has been charged with killing a Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer in a traffic collision is expected to appear in court on Wednesday. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Qaneak Shaney Cobb, 35, was charged with one count each of murder, possession of a controlled substance and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection with the death of 51-year-old Christopher Cortijo.

Bodies of Two Young Women Found in Debs Park in Montecito Heights: LAPD
The bodies of two females were discovered Wednesday afternoon in the southern part of a popular park in Montecito Heights, and homicide detectives were investigating, according to LAPD. The bodies were spotted by a woman walking her dog in the park, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Marlon Marrache said. The call came in at 2:21 p.m. from Mercury and Boundary avenues, according to Officer Matt Ludwig with LAPD's Media Relations Section.

LAPD Chief Responds To Investigation Into Stray-Bullet Shooting In Culver City
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck on Wednesday responded to an investigation into a stray-bullet shooting that occurred in Culver City. CBS2's Dave Lopez has confirmed the shooting involved an off-duty LAPD officer in his probationary period. The officer is under home duty while he is under investigation. “I can assure everybody,” Beck said, “that we will find out what his involvement is and we will take appropriate action.”

LAPD sergeant who detained 'Django' actress accused of violating ethics rules
A now-retired Los Angeles police sergeant who drew headlines last year after he detained a "Django Unchained" actress has been accused of violating city ethics rules by leaking an audio recording of the encounter to the media. In a highly unusual move, city ethics officials accuse Sgt. Jim Parker of violating two rules by disclosing confidential information without authorization and doing so to "create a private advantage for himself," according to a summary of the allegations obtained by The Times.

Man shot by LAPD near USC booked for attempted murder, police say
A man shot and critically wounded by Los Angeles police near USC has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder, police said Wednesday. Oscar Ovidio Diaz Gonzalez, 30, was booked in absentia because he was still being treated for his injuries at a hospital, LAPD Officer Matthew Ludwig said. He was shot Tuesday after a struggle with two officers that occurred after a traffic stop near Magnolia Avenue and 27th Street, just a few blocks north of USC's University Park campus, police said.

LAPD Asking For Public's Help To ID Boyle Heights Attempted Rape Suspect
Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for the public's help to find a man suspected of attempted rape in Boyle Heights last month. Authorities said around 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 29, a male suspect approached a woman in the 1500 block of 1st Street. The victim, who is in her early 20s, was walking home from work and had just gotten off the Metro. He followed her down the street to Pecan Street where he then attempted to sexually assault her. "The video shows him very clearly walking behind our victim. She got a few blocks away from the Metro station. The suspect, from behind, approached her, grabbed her, attempted to touch her," LAPD Detective Steven Juarez said.

Injured APD officer Daniel Webster dies overnight
The Albuquerque police officer shot last Wednesday in the line of duty has died. Sources told Action 7 News that Officer Dan Webster passed away overnight. Police said he had been fighting for every breath after being shot at least twice during a traffic stop near Central Avenue and Eubank Boulevard. His family, along with several officers, Chief Gorden Eden and Mayor Richard Berry gathered at the hospital late Wednesday night.

FBI Warning Nation's Police Of ‘Anarchist Halloween Revolt' Plot
The FBI has issued an alert to police departments across the country warning that anarchist groups are planning a “Halloween revolt” plot aimed at attacking local police during Halloween week. The New York Post learned the FBI said that a group called the “National Liberation Militia” is planning to don costumes and then to causes disturbances that will draw police to the scene. Then, the FBI warns, the groups intend to ambush the responding officers.

NYPD Commissioner William Bratton promotes slain Officer Randolph Holder to detective
NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton steadied himself inside a hushed Jamaica church Wednesday at the funeral for slain Officer Randolph Holder and, for the fourth time in 10 months, performed a heart-rending last gesture for one of his fallen: promotion to first-grade detective. "Detective Randolph Holder, you are relieved of your duty as a New York City police officer, a guardian at the gates of New York City, and we send you on your way . . . to be a guardian angel at the gates of heaven," Bratton said as relatives, friends and hundreds of cops wedged into the packed church applauded.
