Los Angeles Police Protective League Calls for Billionaire Owner of L.A. Rams to Pay Full Cost of Police Services for Football Games
Today, the LAPPL will demand that Stan Kroenke, the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Rams, pay the full cost for necessary police services to ensure public safety at L.A. Rams home games. The estimated cost to provide police protection at Ram games is approximately $2 million a year. Thus far the Rams have not agreed to pay their fair share of policing costs and this will drain police coverage in other areas of our city. The LAPPL is also urging Mayor Eric Garcetti to reject any requests for sweetheart deals funded by the taxpayers for the NFL team.

Raves leave L.A. for the suburbs, but deaths and drug problems continue
The heart of Los Angeles was once home to some of Southern California's most memorable rave concerts. But the geographic center of the scene is rapidly moving east as the popularity of the concerts increases and concerns about drug abuse by ravegoers has sparked a backlash in Los Angeles County. All of the region's biggest electronic dance music festivals are now held deep in the suburbs and exurbs of Southern California, centered in San Bernardino County.

It's Silicon Valley vs. law enforcement on California death penalty

Nearly 80 law enforcement groups have given to the campaign, led by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association with $325,000, the Peace Officers Research Association of California with $305,000, the California Association of Highway Patrolmen with $250,000 and the Los Angeles Police Protective League with $225,000.

Should Fallen Officers' Families Get to Decide on Publicizing Death Videos?
It's a sight that's become all too familiar in recent days, a video showing the death of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty. Sometimes the recording comes from a nearby witness, but often it comes from the officer, whether through a body camera, dashboard camera or radio call. A bill pending in the California Senate from Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) would let the family of the fallen officer decide whether those recordings should be made public. Low's brother is a police officer. He says the bill isn't intended to withhold information, but to protect families. KQED
