Ontario Police Officer Walks Days After Being Shot In The Head In Las Vegas Mass Shooting
Only three days after Ontario police Officer Michael Gracia was shot in the head in the Las Vegas mass shooting Sunday night that left 58 victims dead, a photo posted to Twitter showed the 24-year-old walking down the hallway of a Las Vegas hospital. “Officer Gracia from Ontario Pd, after being shot in the head, is walking. #VegasStrong #godisgood,” read the post from San Bernardino County sheriff's legislative liaison, Sgt. Shelisa Williams.

LAFD Captain's Daughter In Coma After She Was Struck By Gunfire In Las Vegas Shooting
A Los Angeles Fire Department captain is hoping that tragedy does not strike twice after his daughter was left comatose following the deadly mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert. Kristina Terrill Staples, 34, had gone to the concert with her husband and some family members, eager to see Jason Aldean perform. The girlfriend of the man who carried out Sunday night's massacre on the Las Vegas Strip was in Los Angeles Wednesday and was expected to be questioned by the FBI about her possible knowledge of Stephen Paddock's plans for carrying out what became the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Hundreds Pay Respect To Fallen Georgia Officer
Hundreds of people filled a Georgia church Tuesday to say their goodbyes to a fallen police officer. Services were held at Victory Baptist Church in Rockmart for Polk County police Detective Kristen Hearne, who was fatally shot Friday when she and Officer David Goodrich investigated a stolen car found beside a rural road. L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy Injured While Serving Search Warrant In South El Monte
A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was injured while serving a search warrant in South El Monte on Thursday morning, authorities said. The deputy was serving the warrant in the 11200 block of Broadmeed Street when he was hurt about 5 a.m., said a sheriff's spokesperson. Video from the scene showed the deputy was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. His injury was not considered life-threatening, officials said. Los Angeles Times |

1 Killed, 2 Wounded In Boyle Heights Shooting
One person was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting Thursday morning in Boyle Heights. Shots were fired at 1:07 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, where the victims were believed to be walking, Los Angeles police Sgt. E. Yarkey said. They were taken to hospitals, where one of them, a man, died. Another man was in surgery, and a woman was shot in a leg, according to Yarkey.

Police Dog Helps In Valley Commercial Burglary Suspect's Arrest: More Victims?
A man suspected of committing at least 20 commercial burglaries in the Van Nuys area is now in custody, and police Wednesday urged other possible victims to contact them. LAPD Pursuit Of Stolen Vehicle Ends In South L.A.
Los Angeles Police Department officers are pursuing a stolen vehicle in South L.A., authorities said. LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez said the stolen vehicle was tracked from a LoJack signal. The pursuit ended just around 6 p.m. at South Figueroa Street and West 56th Street in the Vermont-Slauson district of South L.A. Sky5 video showed a black SUV driving through surface streets as the driver continued to evade police.

Sherman Oaks Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Smashing Into Patrol Cars After Chase
A Sherman Oaks man who rammed a vehicle into two Los Angeles Police Department patrol cars after a chase last Halloween in the San Fernando Valley was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, a prosecutor said Wednesday. Alexander Asad, 26, was sentenced immediately after pleading no contest Tuesday to one felony count of assault upon a peace officer, according to Deputy District Attorney Ranna Jahanshahi.

Could Scrapping Gang List Have Unintended Consequences?
Reflecting criminal justice reforms sweeping the country, the Portland Police Bureau has announced it will no longer identify anyone as a gang member or associate — and will purge the hundreds of names in its existing gang list. According to the bureau, the change, announced on Sept. 8, was made because being labeled a gang member or affiliate can have lifelong negative consequences for those trying to overcome the challenges they face.
