Search Continues For Missing Police Diver
With a rain and wind storm headed their way, search teams moved north Sunday as they continued to look for Craig Lehner, the police diver who went missing early Friday afternoon during a training exercise. The decision to relocate the massive, multi-agency effort came as Buffalo Police acknowledged the search for Lehner is no longer a rescue effort and the emotional difficulty in making that decision.

LASD Deputy Shot In Vegas Shares Story From O.C. Hospital
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy who was shot in Las Vegas two weeks ago spoke to FOX 11 on Sunday as she recovers at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton. Lori Kammer, a 16-year-veteran of LASD, and her husband Todd Kammer, a longtime sergeant with LASD, were both attending the Route 91 Country Music Festival in Las Vegas on October 1 when Stephen Paddock opened fire.

3 People Shot in Suspected Road Rage Incident
Three people were wounded Sunday in a suspected road rage incident in Panorama City, police said. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission division responded to a shooting call around 5 p.m. on Woodman Avenue and Cantara Street. Three men in a pick up truck were shot at by someone in another vehicle. The three victims were taken to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.

Armed Man Barricades Himself Inside NoHo Apartment After Stabbing Neighbor's Dog: Police
? A North Hollywood apartment complex was evacuated after a man allegedly stabbed a neighbor's dog and barricaded himself inside the unit on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. LAPD officers and SWAT team were called to a complex in the 7100 block of Fulton Avenue around 11:46 a.m. There, they encountered the armed man inside his apartment, police said.

LAPD Program Prevents Acts of Terrorism
The Los Angeles Police Department is working on a program that aims to identify a person with a tendency or intention to commit an act of terrorism and works to stop them before it happens. PATHE, or Providing Alternatives to Hinder Extremism, is designed to create a path for a person who raises concern but hasn't necessarily committed a crime. It is used to confront any type of extremism -- ISIS, Al-Qaeda, neo-Nazis and more.

Snapchat Threat Targets Van Nuys High School
A threat to “just kill everyone” at Van Nuys High School has the San Fernando Valley LAUSD campus on edge today, with Los Angeles police out in force, according to police and media reports. The Snapchat threat — which also included the words, “First you guys. Yup when I put this bullet in to head” — was revealed late Sunday on CBS2's 11 p.m. newscast.

San Fernando Valley Pursuit Ends Unresolved After Suspect Vehicle Exhibits Dangerous Maneuvering
Officials were in pursuit of a black sedan in the San Fernando Valley on Friday night but pulled ground units off the chase after the driver became increasingly reckless. It was unclear what crime the driver was suspected of committing, but Los Angeles Police Officer Drake Madison said it was a felony. Los Angeles police officials were not immediately available to provide details on what time or how the pursuit began.

Body That Washed Up On Venice Beach Identified As 48-Year-Old Woman
A body that washed ashore on Venice Beach Thursday has been identified as a 48-year-old woman. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office identified the deceased person as Yvette Suzanne Mills. Her city of residence was unknown. An autopsy is pending. Mills's body was recovered after a jogger who was passing by near Ocean Front and Market Street reported it to police.

Killer Sentenced To Death For 1980 Robbery At L.A. Bob's Big Boy Loses Appeal
? A federal court on Friday rejected an appeal by a man sentenced to death for killing four people and seriously injuring several others during a 1980 robbery at a Los Angeles Bob's Big Boy. Ricardo Rene Sanders, convicted of four first-degree murders, challenged his conviction and sentence on various grounds. His key contention was that eyewitnesses lied during his 1982 trial.

LA Sheriff Wants Forensic Specialists To Analyze Body Cam Video
?The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has proposed hiring 32 forensic video specialists to analyze deputy-involved shooting and other critical incidents. The request is part of a $55 million body cam proposal Sheriff Jim McDonnell sent to the L.A. County Board of Supervisors Friday.

Robert Durst To Appear In Court As Prosecutors Gather Witness Testimony In His Murder Case
Robert Durst — the idiosyncratic New York real estate tycoon who lived for years under the suspicion of authorities — is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Monday for a hearing at which prosecutors will gather early witness testimony ahead of his murder trial. Durst, 74, is accused of shooting his best friend, crime writer Susan Berman, in the back of the head inside her Benedict Canyon home in late December 2000.

New Law Expands The Scope Of California's Ban On Open Carry Of Rifles
Two months after militia members openly carried semiautomatic rifles during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation that will ban the open carrying of rifles in some areas of the state where they were previously allowed. The new law he signed Friday makes it a misdemeanor to openly carry an unloaded long gun in public unincorporated areas outside of incorporated cities that are deemed by counties as not appropriate for such firearms.

ATF Association Blasts Critics Of Bump Stock Decision, Says Only Congress Can Ban Devices
A group of current and former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives employees has written to Congress proposing a way to change current law that would make bump stocks illegal, and pushing back against critics who said it was the ATF's job to ban the devices in the first place. Michael Bouchard, president of the ATF Association, said he sent the letter to several key lawmakers on Friday, including Charles Grassley, a Republican from Iowa who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the legislators who introduced a bill to ban bump stocks in the wake of the mass shooting that killed 58 people and wounded hundreds more in Las Vegas this month.

Firefighters Battle Massive Boyle Heights Warehouse Fire
Firefighters Sunday morning were still on scene of a blaze that tore through a 120,000-square-foot warehouse in Boyle Heights Saturday night, during which a pot dispensary was discovered in a nearby structure. The fire was reported at 6:43 p.m. Saturday at 1585 South Rio Vista Ave., Amy Bastman with LAFD said.

California Declares State Of Emergency To Fight Hepatitis A Outbreak
California Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday declared a state of emergency to combat a hepatitis A outbreak that has claimed 18 lives in San Diego. Brown said the federally-funded supply of vaccines is inadequate. His proclamation allows the state to buy vaccines directly from manufacturers and distribute them.

Valley Business Owners Fear Being Uprooted By Massive LA Metro Transit Project
Business and property owners who could be uprooted by a mass transit project planned in the eastern San Fernando Valley are organizing in an effort to stay put. The 9.2-mile East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor project would connect the Metro Orange Line in Van Nuys to the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink Station through busy Van Nuys Boulevard, which has the second-highest transit boardings in the Valley following the Metro Orange Line. There are two alternatives for a bus rapid transit service and two for a light rail service, along with other federal- and state-required alternatives.

LA Metro Makes Order For Up To 100 Electric Buses
Los Angeles Metro officials announced this week that they have signed a contract with New Flyer of America for dozens of zero-emission and compressed natural gas buses to help the agency reach its goal of a 100 percent zero-emission fleet by 2030. The CNG contract is for up to 300 Xcelsior CNG 60-foot heavy-duty transit buses — 65 firm orders and options to purchase an additional 235 buses.
