Florida K-9 Dies Following Medical Procedure
A Collier County Sheriff's Office K9 died earlier this month after undergoing a medical procedure from which he did not recover. The K9, Ajax, was handled by Cpl. Eugene Shakuro. The K9 provided security for President Donald Trump during his Sept. 14 visit to Collier County following Hurricane Irma, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Man Accused Of Shooting Ohio Cop Arraigned In Court
A Toledo man accused of shooting a city police officer will remain in jail with a $3 million bond. Jamaine Hill, who is charged with three counts of felonious assault on a police officer, appeared Friday in Toledo Municipal Court. Officials identified him as the gunman who fired through his front door at Detective Jason Picking.

Man Dies After Being Shot On Skid Row; Gunman Sought A man in his 20s has died after being shot on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, police say. The shooting happened at about 6 a.m. in the 600 block of S. San Pedro Street, near 6th Street, according to the LAPD. The man was shot and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity was not released.

Hunt For 24-Year-Old Escaped Convict Who Walked Away From LA Re-Entry Program
Authorities were on the hunt Wednesday for a 24-year-old convict who walked away from a re-entry program in Los Angeles. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials were looking for Jessie Barraza after they were alerted about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday that his GPS device had been removed while out on an approved pass, authorities said. A location was not immediately given.

LAPD Chief Speaks Out On Fatal Police Shooting Of Pacoima Man In Van Nuys
A Pacoima man shot at Los Angeles police officers multiple times during and after a potential stolen vehicle pursuit before he was fatally shot by police last week in Van Nuys, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said Tuesday. Beck told the Los Angeles Police Commission at its regular meeting that officers from a uniformed gang unit observed a Honda Civic in the afternoon of Nov. 15 with “plates that were reported as lost or stolen.”

SWAT Team Searches For Burglary Suspect At South LA Building Tented For Fumigation
A police SWAT team was searching for a possible burglary suspect Monday at a South Los Angeles apartment building that was tented for fumigation, authorities said. A Los Angeles Fire Department hazardous materials team also responded to the location, in the 4000 block of Vermont Avenue, about 8:45 a.m. after fumigation company employees spotted the intruder, according to the LAPD.

Man Wearing Facial-Type Mask Sought In Series Of Armed Robberies In Eagle Rock, Highland Park Areas
Police on Tuesday asked for the public's help to find a man sought in a series of at least six armed robberies that took place in the past two weeks in the Eagle Rock and Highland Park areas. Homeowner Going To Extremes To Make Sure Burglars Don't Return
A homeowner in Woodland Hills is so afraid since burglars snuck into her home through a sliding-glass door that she's now going to extremes to make sure they don't return. The woman, a 15-year-resident at the home, had decades of family jewelry taken in her first burglary experience. Tuesday afternoon an LAPD officer spent hours telling neighbors about a rash of recent daytime burglaries and mail thefts, one of which was caught on camera of a guy on a scooter.

Gun Theft From Legal Owners Is On The Rise, Fueling Violent Crime Hundreds of thousands of firearms stolen from legal owners are flowing each year into underground markets -- and the numbers are on the rise. In California, 71,478 guns have been reported lost or stolen since 2010. Since 2010, 55,885 guns have been recovered from crime scenes since 2010 and at least 4,800 of those match the serial number and make of a gun reported stolen. And in that time, more than 60 people have been killed by a stolen gun in California.

The Los Angeles City Council Tuesday approved stricter enforcement guidelines for the sale of alcoholic beverages at gas stations in an effort to reduce drunken driving and the availability of alcohol to minors. “This is a strong and rational step to help curb drinking and driving,” said Councilman Bob Blumenfield, who wrote the motion.
