Retired NM Officer Killed By Fleeing Suspects During Vehicle Pursuit
Retired Las Cruces police officer J.R. Stewart was killed Monday when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle fleeing law enforcement. Stewart was twice a candidate for Doña Ana County sheriff and was also a former president of local police unions and fraternal organizations.

Suspected Shooter Of Texas Trooper Charged With Capital Murder
The suspect in the shooting death of a state trooper during a Thanksgiving Day traffic stop in East Texas was charged Friday with capital murder of a law enforcement officer. Dabrett Black, 32, was being held in the Brazos County jail in Bryan, Texas, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Houston. He is accused of fatally shooting Trooper Damon Allen on Thursday.

Actor Dragged, Run Over After Minor Traffic Incident Turns Into Hit-And-Run
A local actor says he was dragged, run over and left in a San Fernando Valley street — and the suspect is still on the run. Both of Dave Buzzotta's feet are broken and he has deep cuts all over his body after he says a woman ran him over in a four-door white sedan last week.

Burglars Swipe 1,800 Gallons Of Alcohol From Los Angeles Distillery
Surveillance footage captured three men just behind a razor wire fence. One of them -- his face completely uncovered -- climbs it, then quickly knocks the camera over. He's then seen crawling on the rooftop of a Los Angeles distillery. The owners of Fog Shots say a few weeks later, their business was burglarized.

Ex-NBA Player Ben Gordon Arrested On Suspicion Of Robbery
Former NBA player Ben Gordon has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in Los Angeles after police said he punched an apartment manager and pulled a knife. Gordon, 34, went to a building Saturday where he had rented two apartments and demanded his security deposit from the manager, police spokesman Tony Im said Tuesday.

Skid Row Shooting Victim Was 22 Years Old, Killer Is At Large
Authorities on Tuesday identified a 22-year-old man who was fatally shot on Skid Row, but have little to go on to track down his killer. Deshon Tave-Riggins was shot about 6 a.m. Nov. 21 at Sixth and San Pedro streets and died at a hospital, according to coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

LAPD Investigating 28 Sex Assault Cases Involving Entertainment Industry, Source Says
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating dozens of alleged cases of sexual assault involving members of the entertainment industry, a source told ABC News Tuesday. The source inside the department told ABC News that there are 28 cases currently being investigated by the LAPD.

At the end of 2014, the White House launched a $263 million program to equip 50,000 officers with body-worn cameras (BWCs). In 2016, 95 percent of large police departments surveyed said they'd implemented BWCs or were committed to. In the rush for funding, some police departments did not pay adequate attention to the legal issues that accompany BWCs, and their associated costs.

Los Angeles County Approves Portable Toilets, Showers To Halt Hepatitis A Spread Among Homeless
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors took action Tuesday to stop the spread of hepatitis A. Portable bathrooms are headed to homeless encampments in unincorporated parts of the county. "It's relatively easy to spread in situations where people don't have good access to sanitation facilities, so it's what we call, spread by a fecal/oral root," said Los Angeles County Public Health Department Director Barbara Ferrer.

Virgil Grant is a marijuana business owner and felon. He spent six years in federal prison for owning and operating marijuana facilities in the city of Los Angeles, he said. He had six medical marijuana shops — legal by California standards, but not by the feds. And during his time in prison, he lost them.
