Indiana Cop In Good Condition After Being Shot While Serving Warrant
Indianapolis police say an officer is in good condition after being shot while helping serve a search warrant. Police said the officer was shot in the forearm about 2 p.m. Wednesday and was hospitalized in good condition. A suspect who allegedly fired multiple shots at officers was also hospitalized after being critically wounded when officers returned gunfire.

2 Men Shot, Killed In Panorama City
Two men were shot and killed just outside a Denny's restaurant in Panorama City early Friday morning. The shooting was reported at about 3:20 a.m. at the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Chase Street, according to Los Angeles police. The two men were sitting on a bus bench when a person with a gun walked up and opened fire.

Woodland Hills Drug Explosion Draws Bomb Squad
A non-injury, drug-related explosion is under investigation in Woodland Hills. The blast, described as minor, was reported at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday on the 6200 block of Kentland Avenue, near Victory Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Father Faces Charges For Having Unsecured Guns And Ammo At Home With Kids
City Attorney Mike Feuer announced Thursday that a South Los Angeles father is facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly keeping an unsecured assault weapon in his home that was discovered after the man's teenage son was accused of bringing a gun to his school.

Police in Southern California raided a weed "fortress" on Wednesday, seizing 35,000 marijuana plants and shutting down an operation they believe was bringing in millions of dollars a month. Investigators first turned their sights on the illegal grow operation about two months ago after receiving complaints from neighbors.

Five Years After Sandy Hook, Push To Bring Guns Into Ohio Schools Gains Strength
One of the guns inside Sidney Middle School, the only one visible to the 1,000 students who stream through the glass-paneled doors each day, is kept holstered on Rick Cron's belt. The others are kept out of sight. Cron is the security officer at the western Ohio school. He was hired in 2013 after a 35-year career in law enforcement.

Firefighter Fatality Reported At Huge California Wildfire
A firefighter died Thursday while working a colossal wildfire burning in coastal mountains northwest of Los Angeles that has become the fourth largest in California history. Cory Iverson was an engineer with a state fire engine strike team based in San Diego. Iverson, 32, is survived by his pregnant wife and a 2-year-old daughter, said Fire Chief Ken Pimlott of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Nearly 100 Firefighters And A Water-Dropping Helicopter Tackle Brush Fire Near Occidental College
Nealry a hundred Los Angeles firefighters, along with a water-dropping helicopter, swarmed a brush fire late Thursday in the hilly terrain above Occidental College in Eagle Rock. The blaze began shortly after 10 p.m. off North Campus Road and quickly consumed five acres, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. The department sent 91 firefighters aided by the chopper to tackle the fire, which was burning on a tough-to-access hillside.

How A Drone Helped LA Firefighters Battle The Skirball Fire
When Los Angeles city firefighters battled the Skirball and Creek fires last week, they used a drone, for the first time, to help them assess damage and find hot spots. Firefighter Paramedic David Danielson says it beamed live video to his team to show them where the fire was spreading.

L.A. County Leaders Review Sexual Harassment Policies
Amid the wave of sexual harassment complaints lodged against elected officials and other high-profile figures, Los Angeles County supervisors on Tuesday tinkered with what they said is already an effective program for handling such allegations for the 110,000-person workforce. After hearing a report on how the program is run, supervisors recommended the county make the online link employees can use to file complaints easier to find.
