NY Trooper Suffers ‘Extreme Head Injury' After Being Struck By Vehicle
A New York state trooper suffered an “extreme, traumatic head injury” Monday afternoon when a vehicle struck him as he helped a motorist broken down along a sharp turn in an overpass ramp to the Sagtikos State Parkway in the Commack area, police said.

NYPD Cop Killer Sentenced To Life In Prison
Convicted cop killer Demetrius Blackwell is a “coward” who should die in prison, a judge said Tuesday in imposing a sentence of life without parole for the 2015 slaying of Brian Moore, an NYPD officer from Long Island. Judge Gregory Lasak could not contain his scorn for Blackwell, 37, calling him a “cold, calculating killer” as he handed down the stiffest penalty allowed by state law in Queens County Criminal Court.

Suspected Killer Of Rookie Pennsylvania Cop To Stand Trial
A man accused of killing a Pennsylvania police officer and then leading law enforcement on a four-day manhunt with the help of his mother will stand trial, a judge ruled Wednesday. Rahmael Sal Holt, 29, will face trial on charges he fatally shot rookie New Kensington Officer Brian Shaw last month during a routine traffic stop.

Freeway Temporarily Shut Down After Barefoot Man Steals Shuttle Bus Near LAX
A suspect stole a shuttle bus near Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday night and then crashed the vehicle into some parked cars before fleeing. The bus was reported stolen about 8:55 p.m. in the 8600 block of Airport Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Auto Stiegler Body Shop Burglary Suspects Caught On Live Camera – And By Cops
Two men were arrested Monday while allegedly burglarizing the Auto Stiegler Certified Collision Repair and Service Center in Reseda, authorities said on Tuesday. The suspects were caught about 4 a.m. at the Auto Stiegler repair shop located at 6700 Reseda Blvd., said Los Angeles Police Department Detective Armando Monarrez, who is the West Valley Division burglary coordinator.

2 Officer-Involved Shootings In North Hills Leave Off-Duty Officer And Suspect Wounded
An off-duty officer was injured and a suspect was wounded in an officer-involved shooting this morning in North Hills, the second such incident in hours for the San Fernando Valley community. A call came in at 1:01 a.m. about an off-duty officer needing help around the same time officers received reports of someone being shot, according to Sgt. Andrew Kukla of the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division.

Family Mourns Father Killed In Carjacking Near MacArthur Park Ricardo Mota had a routine. Every day he'd park at a parking structure near MacArthur Park and on his way home from work, he'd call his family. But on Monday Dec. 11, they never got a call. Police say Mota's body was discovered with severe injuries that night after a suspected carjacking.

How California Took Action To Address A Risky Change To Gun Background Check
As officials across the country grapple with a rule change that makes it easier for some people with outstanding arrest warrants to legally buy guns, California passed a law that legislators say fixes the problem for their state. The law comes in response to a change in the Department of Justice's definition of who qualifies as a “fugitive from justice,” a category of people prohibited from buying a gun under federal law.
