Teen Is Shot In Arleta, And LAPD Is Looking For These Two Men
A 17-year-old was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon in Arleta, and authorities are trying to find two men wanted in connection with this attempted homicide. Los Angeles Police Department Mission Area officers responded around 1:35 p.m. to a radio call of “ambulance shots fired” at Woodman Avenue and Osborne Street in Arleta, the LAPD said.

Suspect Accused Of Random Shooting Arrested After Brief Standoff
A man allegedly fired shots and then barricaded himself in a home in South Los Angeles this afternoon, prompting police to cordon off the area until he was taken into custody nearly two hours later. The shooting was reported about 2:10 p.m. in the area of Western Avenue and 42nd Street in the Vermont Square area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A man was shot in a leg during a robbery outside a bar in San Pedro, police said Thursday. The shooting was reported about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday outside Enigma bar at 1323 S. Pacific Ave., said Sgt. Bradley Hearn of the Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Division .

Prosecutors Sue Owners Of South L.A. Property, Calling It A ‘Dangerous Hazard' Because Of Gang Crime
For nearly a decade, a South Los Angeles duplex has been a hub for gang violence and troublesome parties filled with drugs, city officials say. In the last four months alone, police have responded there multiple times after reports of gunfire. To get a handle on the violence, Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer filed a lawsuit against the mother-and-son duo — Senorina Lara and Miguel Valencia — who own and live in the duplex in the 1300 block of East 43rd Street.

Suspects Nabbed In Palms District Home Invasion
Two men suspected in a home invasion in L.A.'s Palms district Wednesday morning were taken into custody after a search of the neighborhood, police said. Officers responded to a hot prowl call at 2:11 a.m. in the 3400 block of Clarington Avenue, said an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division.

LAPD Addresses Increased Robbery, Theft Of Electronic Devices
Tis the season -- for street robberies. It's an unfortunate side-effect of our busy lives that we get distracted by our devices. Unfortunately- that makes us easy prey for crooks. On Wednesday, a group of LAPD officers gave tips on how not to become a victim. LAPD Deputy Chief Phillip Tingirides presided over a multi-agency news conference to advise people on how to avoid being victimized by "distraction crimes'' committed by suspects who steal their electronic devices.

Dramatic Video Shows LA Deputies, Medical Team Bring Inmate Back To Life After Fentanyl Overdose
Deputies and other personnel at a jail facility saved the life of a 19-year-old inmate who had stopped breathing after he and four other inmates apparently ingested the opioid Fentanyl under the mistaken belief that it was methamphetamine, authorities said today. The incident occurred on Dec. 5 at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

Online Ammunition Sales Spike In California Ahead Of Jan. 1 State Law Change
Ammunition sales across California are skyrocketing heading into the end of the year, but the deals have nothing to do with Christmas or holiday sales. Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday requested a major disaster declaration from President Trump to assist with the response to the devastating wildfires that raged across Southern California this month. The wind-driven blazes, which ravaged neighborhoods from San Diego County to Santa Barbara County, destroyed more than 1,000 homes and forced more than 200,000 people to flee.

2nd Phase Takes Place For Affordable Units For Homeless Using Prop HHH Money
An affordable housing project for the homeless broke ground Wednesday and is the first to use money from Proposition HHH, which was approved by Los Angeles residents in 2016. The proposition allowed the city to borrow up to $1.2 billion and increase property taxes for construction projects to provide affordable housing for the homeless population.

LA Metro Offering Free Rides Christmas, New Year's Eves
The Los Angeles Metro is aiming to make it easy and cheap to get around for the holidays. On Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, Metro is offering free rides for anyone who boards between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. On both days, the rail and bus lines will be running on a regular Sunday schedule.
