Procession Held For California Officer Killed In Christmas Eve Crash
Dozens of law enforcement vehicles drove the more than hourlong route on Interstate 580 Tuesday afternoon in a procession to bring the body of a fallen CHP officer from Oakland to Tracy. Rookie CHP officer Andrew Camilleri Sr., 33, of Tracy, was killed Christmas Eve when a suspected drunken driver drifted off Interstate 880 in Hayward and slammed into the back of his patrol car just before midnight. Camilleri, a father of three, was killed, while his partner, Jonathan Velasquez, was injured.

Man Charged With Shooting 2 New Hampshire Officers To Plead Insanity
A man charged with shooting and wounding two New Hampshire police officers last year is changing his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity. Ian MacPherson previously pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and first-degree assault. Court officials said Tuesday a plea and sentence hearing has been set for Feb. 8.

At first the surprise was a bit overwhelming for three sisters who weren't sure how to react when they walked into LAPD's Topanga station to find gifts just for them. “This is all for the girls,” Sgt. Stephen Bell, Los Angeles Police Department, announced. The smiles came when seven year-old Carmen and her younger siblings Ariana and Allison started unwrapping Teddy-bears, toys and t-shirts.

LAPD Raising Funds To Help Single Mom Severely Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash
Los Angeles police officers are raising money to help a single mother pay for rent after she was severely injured in a hit-and-run crash last month. On Nov. 12 at around 10 p.m., LAPD officers responded to the intersection of Florence and Dalton avenues following a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

Search Continues For Driver Who Killed Woman In Hit-And-Run Crash On Christmas
Police are close to identifying the hit and run vehicle that struck and killed a 49-year-old woman Christmas night in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles, according to the lead LAPD investigator. "We're not going to stop until we find this person," said Det. Ryan Moreno. Gloria Eaton-Breaux and her 14-year-old special needs son were crossing Crenshaw Boulevard when she was struck. The driver did not stop.

Police Called After Possible Home Invasion Robbery In South Gate
Police were called just after 3:00 Wednesday morning about a possible home invasion robbery in South Gate. The residents of the home said they had been the victims of a violent home invasion. According to the residents, four masked men, all armed with guns, stormed into the house amd tied two men up and beat them. There was reportedly a woman inside as well who also may have been tied up.

California Patrol Officers Prepare For Rise In Cannabis-Related DUIs
The driver was so high on marijuana, he passed out with his foot on the brakes of his 2012 Hyundai Sonata in the turning lane of 17th Avenue at Portola Drive about two weeks ago, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. “It's not uncommon for us to find somebody passed out in their car,” officer Trista Drake said. “It happens all the time.”

Creek Fire Above Sylmar Remains At 98 Percent Containment
The Creek fire, which began near Sylmar in the early morning hours of Dec. 5, remains at 98 percent containment and 15,619 acres burned, authorities said on Wednesday. Firefighters have continued patrolling the fire, while natural resource specialists assessed its impact on the land, and they probed how to stabilize and repair the landscape, said Rachel C. Smith, acting forest supervisor for Angeles National Forest.
