Windsor Hills Suspect Involved In 13 Other Crashes Before Fiery Wreck, Prosecutors Say
A 37-year-old traveling nurse charged with six counts of murder from last week's fiery crash in Windsor Hills is expected back in court next week for a bail review hearing. This comes as Nicole Linton made her first court appearance in connection to the deadly crash on Monday. As Linton tearfully sat through her court appearance, her attorneys said they're looking into her potential mental health issues. On the other hand, investigators claim Linton has a history of crashes. Prosecutors allege Linton, who is from Texas, was involved in 13 crashes outside of California. One of the crashes allegedly took place as recently as 2020, where it ended with people getting hurt, prosecutors said Monday. Linton went through a defensive driving course after the 2020 crash, prosecutors told a judge. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said there was no evidence of alcohol playing a factor in the Windsor Hills crash, but the DA said investigations are ongoing. The crash from last week killed six people, including a pregnant woman, her 11-month-old son, her unborn baby and the baby's father. Linton did not have a criminal history prior to the Windsor Hills crash. FOX 11 |

Texas Man Pleads Not Guilty In Killing Of Man Walking Dog
A Texas man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in the shooting death of a man who was walking his dog in his Mid-City Los Angeles neighborhood in March. Cliffton Kamal Styles, now 21, is charged with murder in the March 12 slaying of Marcos Sandoval. The 52-year-old man was walking his dog about 5 a.m. that day near the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street when a dark-colored sedan approached and stopped at the northwest corner of the intersection. Styles exited the car, exchanged words with Sandoval and fired multiple shots at him, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Styles allegedly got back into the sedan and drove northbound on Genesee, police said. Sandoval was discovered about 6:15 a.m. by a passerby, who called 911. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The small white dog was not injured and returned home on its own, police said. “Detectives determined that Styles traveled from San Marcos, Texas, and arrived at Florida,” police said. “Styles then drove cross country from Florida to Los Angeles where he committed the murder… Thereafter, he traveled to San Diego, returning to San Marcos, Texas.” MyNewsLA.com |

LAPD Investigating Paintball Shooting Of Man At Bus Stop
A man sitting at a Florence bus stop was shot early Saturday morning by a man armed with a paintball gun. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after the man was hit several times by paintballs while he waited for a bus around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard. Police say the man, who is in his 60s, was shot by an unidentified man riding in the passenger seat of a gray vehicle. Investigators currently have not announced a vehicle or suspect description, but a young woman apparently filmed the entire incident. It's unclear at this time if the paintball shooting was a random attack or a cruel prank for an online audience. Although they might not appear dangerous, paintballs can cause serious injuries and painful bruises. In 2008, more than 600 people received emergency care from injuries suffered from a paintball gun, according to a study from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. In California, firing a paintball at an unsuspecting person outside of a sanctioned environment could result in charges of assault and battery. KTLA 5 |

The chase of the white Chevy pickup started in Burbank, but exact details of the alleged assault were not immediately available. The vehicle traveled on the 118 and 405 Freeways before exiting onto surface streets in the North Hills area. LA City Council Bans Homeless Encampments Near Schools, Daycare Centers In Final Vote
The Los Angeles City Council Tuesday approved a ban on homeless encampments within 500 feet of schools and daycare centers in public places on an 11-3 vote, following protests that forced a recess for the second straight time this item has come before the council. This was the council's third and final vote on the measure. The council voted 11-3 in favor of the measure on the third and final time that it came up for a vote, with Council Members Mike Bonin, Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Nithya Raman dissenting. As they did last week, opponents interrupted the meeting with chants and shouts in the council chamber. But on Tuesday, during public comment, a woman attempted to climb over the barrier separating the council from members of the public. While police attempted to take the woman into custody, a man tried to prevent officers from arresting her -- he was in turn arrested on suspicion of vandalism and resisting arrest. The woman was not taken into custody, according to Capt. Elaine Morales of the Los Angeles Police Department, who added that she was pulled away from police by other protesters. Three officers, including a sergeant, suffered minor injuries, Morales said. FOX 11 |
