Community's role - choosing the next LAPD Chief of Police

Los Angeles Community Policing is pleased to announce that the members of the current Police Commission are very interested in community input to help them develop the criteria for picking the next Chief of Police.

A series of special public events specifically designed to encourage this have been scheduled out in the neighborhoods in May and June.

Angelenos are invited to share their desires for what they would like to see in their new LAPD Chief.

As Commission President Rick Caruso stated, "The Police Commission is responsible for selecting the final three candidates from which the Mayor will select the Chief of Police. We need to know exactly what the people want in their new Chief. This is the time for people to speak out and be a part of this process."

All these community meetings will be attended by at least one Police Commissioner and will be facilitated by Police Commission Executive Director Joe Gunn.

This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to participate in shaping the LAPD of the future, in designing a Department we will want to take us into the 21st Century.

Los Angeles Community Policing urges you to become a part of the process by attending at least one of these meetings, and letting your voice be heard:
