The event is to serve several purposes, some of which
are to:

Create a venue where diverse aspects of our community
meet and interact |

Increase awareness of cultures other than our own |

|

Host forums on pertinent issues |

Make available Information that can potentially
impact "quality of life" for those in the community |

Host a forum for the business community to assess
available business incentives |

|
|
Proactively nurture children, individuals and families
in an atmosphere of fun and information |

|
|
Acknowledge the richness of local artistic talent |

|
|
Encourage corporate support of our community

Children
will enjoy rides and carnival games, teens will have
a pavilion with a stage, music and vendors.
Adults will enjoy information from City and County departments,
block clubs, and residents selling their crafts and
wares.
Non profit and other corporations will hand
out information about their services.
A business pavilion will inform local businesses of
development support services and resources.
The African American Unity Center is
hosting a health pavilion.
A food court will offer foods from several cultures
and vendors will be selling a myriad of wares.
Both the LAPD and the LAFD are participating.

Zimart Galleries, Michael Massenberg, Overton Lloyd
and Reuven Harris are hosting a fine arts gallery representing
art from the African, Korean, Hispanic and European
American traditions.
The day will begin with a business breakfast panel,
where Sonya Blake, the Governor's Small Business Advocate
will keynote, and Mike Pfeiffer of the downtown business
community, will moderate.
LAUSD Supervisor Genethia Hayes will host an Education
Pavilion, where parents can learn what skills their
children are expected to have at their grade level and
where parents can meet members of their school's administration
and PTA. Parents will also have the opportunity to discuss
some of the major issues confronting our school district
today.
At lunch, Councilwoman Jan Perry and Greg Nelson, General
Manager of the City Department of Neighborhood Empowerment
have been invited to keynote, while we enjoy an excellent
lunch sponsored by Lawry's foods.
At four, we will have a panel discussion on "probable
cause" moderated by Commissioner Bobbie Andersen.
In between we will enjoy live music, multi-cultural
entertainment, art and much more.
