RE: CONGRESS OF NEIGHBORHOODS REGISTRATION
This is to formally invite you to attend the upcoming Congress of
Neighborhoods on April 5, 2003 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The theme will be “TeamWork LA.”
This Congress promises to build on last year’s success with improved
presentations, provide more time for questions and answers, and
offer more “best practices” workshops at which Neighborhood Council
leaders can share their experiences with each other.
The best estimate is that this will be the largest community empowerment
event ever held in the nation.
For your convenience, online registration will be available to everyone
who wants to reserve a seat at the workshops through our Web site
at www.lacityneighborhoods.com.
A password will be required for all CERTIFIED & ELECTED
Neighborhood Councils wishing to register online. It will be sent
to your designated contact (see attached list) via e-mail. You may
also register using a fax, postal mail, or by hand delivering your
registration form to:
Taneda K. Jordan

Los Angeles, CA 90012
Fax: (213) 485-4608
Toll-free: 1 866 LA HELPS
Email: tjordan@mailbox.lacity.org
The availability of workshops will be limited by room size, so registration
shall be conducted this way:
ELECTED
AND CERTIFIED NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS
Online registration opens: March 15, 2003 at 8:00 a.m. Closes: March
31, 2003 at 8:00 a.m.
Neighborhood Councils with elected governing boards will be given
the first opportunity to reserve seats at the workshops. We felt
it was very important for every board member who wanted to attend
and participate, to be able to do so. Neighborhood Councils that
have been certified, but which haven’t had their election yet, will
have seats reserved for the three to five official contact people
who signed the application for certification.
Registration will be interrupted for a computer update on March
21 at 4:00 p.m., but will resume on March 22 at 8:00 a.m. Please
understand that we’ve never done online registration before, and
we’re trying to build in safeguards and anticipate problems.
GROUPS
IN FORMATION AND EVERYONE ELSE
Online registration opens: March 22, 2003 at 8:00 a.m. Closes: March
31, 2003 at 8:00 a.m.
The remainder of the seats in the workshops will be on a first-come,
first-served basis. If you plan to attend without attending a workshop,
registration is not required, just show up. We know that some people
may choose to attend solely for the purpose of networking or visiting
the various departments.
The registration deadline is March 31, 2003. Each member of your
delegation who plans to attend should be certain to have registered
by this time.
