THE
PROBLEM?
Los Angeles is facing a housing shortage of crisis proportions.
Simply put, housing construction is not keeping pace with population
growth. The CD 13 Community has voiced countless concerns about
rising rents, skyrocketing home prices, substandard housing conditions,
homelessness and overcrowding. These are all indicators of the housing
crisis that is gripping neighborhoods in Council District 13, the
City, and the State.
THE SOLUTION? YOU.
There is good news. This year, the City of Los Angeles established
a $100 million Housing Trust Fund and California voters approved
$2.1 billion in new housing bonds. This infusion of capital will
be opening new possibilities for building housing here.
Building housing, however, requires more than money -- it requires
a cooperative effort with shared vision between community, developers
and government. As a community leader, YOU play an important role
in the future of your neighborhood and City.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Please attend the "CD 13 Housing Summit" to explore the possibilities
for building housing in a way that improves the livability of our
communities. This will be an opportunity to take a look at some
of the exciting things going on Council District 13 and beyond.
It will also be a forum for community building and for building
relationships between neighborhood activists, tenants groups, community-based
non-profits, businesses, architects, housing developers, and other
concerned community leaders.
RSVP TODAY to 213 / 473 7013 or blondono@council.lacity.org.
Summit co-sponsored by the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.
