Re: Burglar Alarm Issue
By now, nearly everyone has heard about the burglar alarm issue.
Moments ago, a joint meeting of the Public Safety Committee and
the Education and Neighborhoods Committee concluded its meeting.
Interestingly, the Public Safety Committee voted 3-2 to recommend
to the City Council that it veto the action of the Police Commission.
And the Education and Neighborhoods Committee voted 2-1 to sustain
the action of the Police Commission.
Therefore, the City Council agenda tomorrow will include two separate
reports and recommendations, one from each committee. The City Council
meeting starts at 10 a.m.
Public Safety Committee:

Education & Neighborhoods Committee:

Both reports will include a recommendation that task force be formed
to, among other things, define verification protocols, create a
public education program, suggest ordinance changes, review what
other cities do, analyze the fees, etc.
