Re: ENS Working Group Being Formed. Next Treasurer training.
EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM WORKING GROUP BEING FORMED
At the last meeting of the Education and Neighborhoods Committee,
I was directed to put together a working group that includes: City
Attorney, City Clerk, Information Technology Agency, Chief Legislative
Analyst, the President's office, and Neighborhood Council leaders.
These meetings will be subject to the Brown Act, so there is an
opportunity for everyone to participate.
The first meeting of the group has been set for Thursday, February
27 at 4 p.m. in City Hall. The room will be determined once we get
a better idea of how many people plan to attend.
The group was formed in response to a motion by Councilman LaBonge
that asked DONE to help lead an effort to make recommendations about
how the City can improve its system of providing early notification
to Neighborhood Councils. Including in the discussion was the motion
made by Councilwoman Hahn that made six specific recommendations.
That motion was sent to you earlier.
Before this meeting, I expect to send you a list of those six recommendations
along with additional recommendations that have been submitted by
a variety of sources including Neighborhood Council leaders. As
you know, the larger that any group is, the more difficult it becomes
to have a meaningful discussion and reach any conclusions. Therefore,
please understand that whether or not you are able to attend, you’ll
be able to provide your input through e-mail or other whatever other
method you choose. The chair of the Education and Neighborhoods
Committee had hoped to have a report from the working group by the
committee’s March 4 meeting. However, since this is Election Day,
so this may not be in committee until March 18. We’ll see.
If you’re interested in attending the meeting, please let me know
because this will help me determine where we will meet inside of
City Hall.
