INPUT ON COMMUNITY RE-NAMING POLICY REQUESTED

At it’s meeting on Tuesday, the Education and Neighborhoods Committee discussed the policy proposed by the Chief Legislative Analyst for the re-naming of neighborhoods. The matter was continued for 30 days while additional opportunities were provided to the public to provide input. The CLA’s report and the motion that initiated the discussion can found on our home page at www.lacityneighborhoods.com. Those with comments that they wish to provide to the CLA and the committee should do so by faxing them to Darrell Powell at (213) 620-9869, or by e-mail to dpowell@cla.lacity.org.

MAYOR’S MESSAGE ON STATE BUDGET

Our home page at www.lacityneighborhoods.com includes information that the Mayor sent to the City departments about the State budget problem that might affect the City of Los Angeles. It explains the City’s official position and the reasons for it. You might want to view it to help determine if changes in the State budget would affect the priorities of your Neighborhood Council.

QUESTION FROM DEL REY NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL

Tom Robischon from the Del Rey Neighborhood Council has a rather interesting question. He’s trying to find someone who anything about Weblogs or Blogs. He says, “I understand corporations have them in their intranets and are a means for working groups to communicate and build a sense of commonality--even when the individuals work in the same office. However, I have no idea whether extending that idea to all the stakeholders of a council is doable.” If any of you techos can help him, his e-mail address is delreycouncil@earthlink.net.

MAYOR’S INVITE TO THE VAN NUYS AVIATION EXPO

Dear Neighbor:

I would like to invite you out to a premier event of the San Fernando Valley, The Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo, June 21st and 22nd. This is the largest free family event sponsored by the City of Los Angeles.

The Aviation Expo will offer attractions for all ages with this year's Expo to include aerobatic performances; world-class military and civilian aircraft displays, a celebration of the Centennial of Flight, and the 75th Anniversary of aviation in Los Angeles.

The Aviation Expo will also benefit the community by raising thousands of dollars for local nonprofit youth and service organizations. So, please join the City of Los Angeles, and bring your family to the Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo 2003.
