Human Relations Awareness Program

Dear Community Members,

As part of its continued focus on pro-active work, The City of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission is pleased to announce an upcoming program co-sponsored with the National Conference for Community and Justice. Please review the information posted on the DONE Website at www.lacityneighborhoods.com.

The reason for your inclusion in this email is that you as a community member, a representative of a Community Based Organization, or of a Government Entity, are regularly surrounded by individuals seeking access to various training programs. This is your opportunity to point them in the direction of this exciting, no-cost opportunity that will provide them with the tools to effectively deal with conflicts surrounding the gamut of issues facing our City. With your database of constituents, personnel, and private businesses, it is our hope that you will refer them to this program and encourage them to enroll. Of course, we would also like to extend this offer to you as well.

The information listed on the website is the flyer which contains the application form. If you have any problems opening the attachment or need more information, please contact Gary De La Rosa of the Human Relations Commission at 213 / 978 - 1660. For those of you who work for the city, he is listed in GroupWise. Space is limited to 120 participants total. Translation can be provided, so please be sure to indicate the need when applying. One of the most frequent requests our commission receives is for this type of training. Our goal is to make this an annual program and with the current budget crisis affecting all departments, it is imperative that we take advantage of all the resources that currently exist. This program should be viewed as one of those opportunities.

We look forward to your participation. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. The Commission views this program as an opportunity to offer a training that can benefit all of us, not just in our professional capacities, but also in how we relate and communicate with one another.

Sincerely,

Arturo Piņa Deputy
Director, Field Services
