Save the Date - Budget Day, Saturday, July 26

SAVE THE DATE! MAYOR’S BUDGET DAY 2003.

Shortly, you will be receiving an invitation from Mayor Jim Hahn to join him at the new and improved Budget Day. In the meantime, we are asking the leaders of the Neighborhood Councils with elected governing boards to be prepared to send up to three representatives to Budget Day on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Registration will start about 9 a.m. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is strongly recommended that those who attend be people who are ready, willing, and able to assume the serious task of helping the Mayor and his budget team prepare the city budget each year.

We will be trying to keep the breakout groups to a workable size. In the invitation that is coming, we will set a deadline to receive RSVPs from the representatives of the Neighborhood Councils with the elected boards, and then we'll add others who want to attend as observers -- space permitting.

There is no other mayor who has even invited the public to participate in this way, so once again we’ll be working together to create a national model.
