SEPTEMBER 11 WEB SITE
Go to www.laremembers.org
for activities that are being scheduled for September 11.
BEST PRACTICES
A reminder that we would like to include on our Web site best practices
ideas that your Neighborhood Council has to share with others. Outreach.
Running a meeting. Printing newsletters, posters, flyers. Involving
youth. Getting things done.
BIKE POWER
This may sound crazy, but give it a few moments of thought before
you have me committed. The other day I saw a guy riding a bike,
and instead of towing a child carrier behind his bike, he had two-wheeled
trailer that carrier a small billboard.
I was wondering if any Neighborhood Councils would want to have
such a contraption that they could easily attach to their bicycle
and use it to advertise neighborhood events such as elections, NC
meetings, block parties, and other local events. We could use our
plotter to print a sign for each side.
If so, we could purchase it, and lend it out to the NCs. The young
or old could take their bike and the attachment to all parts of
the neighborhood, advertise the upcoming event, handout flyers,
talk to people, and try to get people involved. If this still sounds
like a good idea, I'd like to know if anyone knows of someone in
their neighborhood who we could pay to put together such a thing.
Whatya think?
BUILDING THE VISION TOGETHER
At the Congress of Neighborhoods, we collected some volunteers who
want to be part of planning the next Congress of Neighboorhoods,
designing DONE's long-range plan, or discussing changing some of
the laws that govern Neighborhood Councils. At its meeting on July
19, the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners plans to determine which
of its commissioners will get involved in the process too. Then
we'll start bringing everyone together. It's not too late to volunteer.
NEED MAILING ADDRESSES
Once again, a reminder that we need to have some kind of a mailing
address for each NC so that we can get them information and materials
that can only be sent by mail.
