In our outreach effort we have wanted to contact all neighborhood councils, and I hope the announcement helps some who recieve it ...

Community Partners (www.communitypartners.org) has been selected as a strategic partner to help distribute small grants up to $25,000 for any profit or nonprofit organization with an annual budget less than $250,000 serving children from age 0-5. This is a great opportunity to apply for money for just about anything if programs somehow serve children from ages 0-5. So I hope those involved in early literacy, parks which have programs for children from age 0-5, child development, child care, education, etc.apply for these grants ...

I also want help me getting this to the Neighborhood Councils in order to distribute this info across LA county.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO ADMINISTER SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM FOR LA COUNTY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FIRST PROPOSITION 10 COMMISSION

Community Partners is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a Strategic Partner with the Los Angeles County Children and Families First Proposition 10 Commission for the Community Developed Initiatives (CDI) Small Grants Program.

The CDI Small Grants Program aims to strengthen the overall capacity of smaller agencies that serve and support expectant parents, children ages 0-5 and their families in Los Angeles County.

The Commission has allocated $10 million for grants of up to $25,000 to non-profit and for-profit organizations, to be distributed in five funding cycles between August 2002 and September 2004.

Eligible applicants must have annual operating budgets of $250,000 or less and may include, but are not limited to, neighborhood and community-based organizations, local service agencies, collaboratives, neighborhood associations, faith-based and civic organizations, and childcare providers.

CDI Small Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis for activities in priority areas listed below. (Eligible activities for funding include, but are not limited to, the examples given for each priority area):

A. Improve Service Delivery

Examples:
* Capital improvement
* Marketing and outreach
* Materials and supplies
* Personnel
* Training
* Transportation

B. Improve Organizational Capacity and Infrastructure, and Improve Collaboration Efforts Among Agencies/Communities

Examples:
* Consulting services (e.g. organizational development; strategic planning; development of a sustainability plan)
* Licensing fees
* Linkages and networking activities
* Personnel
* Program planning and development
* Special events that the applicant and/or collaborative organizes (e.g. educational workshops, conferences)

C. Improve Technological Capacity

Examples:
* Equipment purchase (e.g. computers, printers, phones, etc.)
* Networking hardware
* Training

D. Improve Evaluation Capacity

Examples:
* Evaluation-related activities (e.g. consultant fees; evaluation plan development for programs not currently funded by Prop 10)

As a Strategic Partner, Community Partners is working with Commission staff to conduct outreach activities, provide technical assistance to applicants, and develop and implement the application and grants review process.
