EXECUTIVE DIRECTIVE NO. AP-1
Subject: COORDINATION OF NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS AND GENERAL MANAGERS
The creation of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and the
certification of Neighborhood Councils throughout the City of Los
Angeles highlight the commitment of the City of Los Angeles to empower
local residents and provide Neighborhood Councils with updated information
on all aspects of City government.
The success of the partnership between Neighborhood Councils and
the City of Los Angeles rest primarily on the City's ability to
communicate with residents about how and why services are delivered,
and to provide Neighborhood Councils with current, updated, and
complete information about the City of Los Angeles and the individual
departments that serve the people of this city. It is necessary
to ensure that Neighborhood Councils are empowered to improve the
neighborhoods they serve and are receiving the information they
need.
All General Mangers, Heads of Departments/Offices and Commissions
of City Government are directed to meet quarterly with Neighborhood
Councils on a regional basis. These quarterly meetings and on-going
dialogues with Neighborhood Councils will assist General Managers
and their Departments to better meet the needs of all neighborhoods
and improve the delivery of municipal services throughout the City
of Los Angeles.
