CONGRESS OF NEIGHBORHOODS IS GETTING MORE EXCITING.
Here is a reminder of some of the exciting discussion groups that
will be ready for you at the next Congress of Neighborhoods on May
22 at the L.A. Convention Center.
Be sure and register online on our Web site, toll-free by phone
to (866) LA HELPS, or by fax to (213) 485-4608, or just come on
by and hope we ordered enough food and refreshments.
Parking will be free, and there will be no charge for all the new
friends you will make.
We’ve extended the online registration deadline to midnight, Tuesday,
May 18.
At the end of the event, we’ll have a drawing for some very special
“prizes,” most of which are being offered by city departments. They
will offer you an opportunity to do things that most people don’t
get to do. Winners must be present, and if you’re a city employee
it doesn’t matter if you’re there or not, you can only sit and watch.
The Zoo is offering behind-the-scenes tours that may find you feeding
elephants and hippos.
The Fire Department will offer a tour of the Port of Los Angeles
on their new fire boat, and a few lucky people will get to visit
a fire station and share a meal cooked by the firefighters.
The Los Angeles World Airports will host an airfield tour, including
the control tower, which, as you might guess, very few people can
get near these days.
