Re: Citywide Election Procedures Meeting
CITYWIDE ELECTION
PROCEDURES MEETING
The Citywide
Election Procedures Working Group finished its work. This will make
it so much easier for Neighborhood Councils to plan their elections.
It shouldnt be a year-long project.
The Board of
Neighborhood Commissioners is tentatively scheduled to discuss and
perhaps vote on these procedures at its meeting on December 7. The
likely time will be 6:30 p.m., and were looking for a freeway-close
location near the Santa Monica and San Diego Freeways.
We urge you
to go to our home page at www.lacity.org
and find three documents at the bottom right side.
One is the final
work product of the Working Group. The second is the Executive Summary
from the Groups chairperson Frank Martinez. The third is a
report from our staff on the more than a dozen community meetings
that were held to receive public input.
Scheduling the
meeting at this time should give Neighborhood Councils an opportunity
to discuss and weigh in on this important matter.
Following the
commissions vote, the matter will go the City Councils
Education and Neighborhoods Committee, and then to the full City
Council.
