Re: Citywide Election Procedures Meeting Location Set. Neighborhood
Café to Feature Emergency Preparedness Show.
CITYWIDE ELECTION
PROCEDURES MEETING
As mentioned
in an earlier newsletter, the proposed Citywide Election Procedures
will be considered by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners on
December 7 at 6:30 p.m. The location will be Daniel Webster Middle
School at 11330 West Graham Place, Los Angeles 90064 in the community
of Daniel Webster after which the school has been named.
The idea was
to find a location that was freeway close to as many people as possible.
The school is located so close to the intersection of the San Diego
and Santa Monica Freeways that you can hear the cars honking at
each other.
In the Thomas
Guide, you can find it on page 632, grid C-7.
At this point,
it will be the only item on the agenda.
You can find
the proposed procedures and related documents on our home
page.
Feel free to
send your written comments to the commission at done@mailbox.lacity.org.
NEIGHBORHOOD
CAFÉ TO FEATURE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS SHOW.
Monday, November
8, 10:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Channel 35.
The big
one is coming. Nobody knows when. Few people are prepared.
And almost no neighborhoods are prepared. Horace Penman (CANNDU)
shows us how hes been leading the way in preparing plans and
storing supplies for the entire neighborhood around Fremont High
School. Nina Royal (Sunland-Tujunga) and Michael Fenton from the
American Red Cross explain the training thats available, and
the importance of each neighborhood being able sustain itself for
2-3 days until help arrives. Hopefully, well see more Neighborhood
Councils assigning someone to coordinate their effort, and setting
aside funds for the supplies and a place to store them.
