GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES WORKING GROUP SCHEDULE

Those who attended the workshop at the last Congress on grievance procedures met last week at our Empowerment Academy Training Center, 305 East First Street in Little Tokyo. They began to discuss the issues regarding the process through which Neighborhood Councils attempt to solve the grievances filed against them, and to prepare recommendations to the DONE general manager.

The group decided that additional meetings would be necessary, and that each one would have specific subject matter to be addressed. Others are welcome to attend and share in another process through Neighborhood Council leaders are an active part of developing the procedures, programs, and policies that effect them. Parking is free in Lot 7 behind the office. Call first. All meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. and end at least by 8:30 p.m.

The Harbor City Neighborhood Council and other cities have contracted with Tim to deal with this problem.

The Department of Recreation and Parks explains how it call came together.

December 13: A Great Neighborhood Project: Broadway-Manchester Streetscape.

A top priority of the community was to create a landscaped media down Manchester Avenue, and to create other improvements as part of a million dollar project. Elizabeth McClelland from the Empowerment Congress Southeast Area Neighborhood Development Council, and representatives from the City’s Bureau of Street Services explain how this was done, and how other Neighborhood Councils can do the same thing.
