Re: DONE and LA SHARES Partnership

DONE has partnerd with LA SHARES to make milions of dollars worth of materials available to all certified Neighborhood Councils.

LA SHARES is a nonprofit materials re-use program, which takes donations of re-usable goods and materials, both new and gently used, from the local business community and redistributes these items FREE OF CHARGE to non-profit organizations, schools, and now to Neighborhood Councils.

As a DONE sponsored entity, Neighborhood Councils will not need to provide proof of non-profit status.

How do NCs get free stuff? Neighborhood Councils need to register online with LA SHARES at www.lashares.org click on the "Become a Recipient" tab and follow the instructions on the web site. Important: After completing the registration, the NC has to email LA SHARES at admin@lashares.org to notify them to activate the account. The NC will then receive an e-mail reply informing that the NC account has been activated.

What can L.A. SHARES do for your Neighborhood Council?

Warehouse “ Shopping” Appointments: L.A. SHARES has a warehouse near Griffith Park, filled with calculators, paper, pens, desk top accessories, staplers, tape, books, envelopes, labels, file folders, scissors, sheet protectors, binders, cleaning supplies, light bulbs, paperclips, glue sticks, and personal care products, plus many more valuable supplies. You will be invited to “shop” at the warehouse where all items are FREE! All of these items were generously donated by local companies who want to help, including the Walt Disney Company, Bank of America, Avery Dennison, XPEDX, and American International Industries.

Online Lotteries: Additionally, on an ongoing basis, L.A. SHARES will offer you the opportunity to enter hundreds of its online lotteries that will provide you with FREE access to thousands of pieces of office furniture and office equipment including, desks, chairs, file cabinets, computer systems, and more.

Personal Wish Lists: When you sign up online, you create a “Wish List” of items your Neighborhood Council needs from a list of approximately 400 regularly offered items. L.A. SHARES will match items on your Wish List with incoming and existing donations so that whenever a donation matches an item on your Wish List, we e-mail you so that you can arrange to pick it up.
