Re: THE NEW MAYOR. NEIGHBORHOOD CAFÉ VIDEOS AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET.

THE NEW MAYOR

Having been through the installation of three other new mayoral administrations, I can only tell you what has been the past practice. A new mayor will often form a transition team to help with the difficult process of getting started. The first step is usually to select the senior staff, then to appoint new people to serve on the high-profile and high-impact commissions.

In past CityWatch newsletters, it has been suggested that it’s time for Neighborhood Councils to get serious about making recommendations to the mayor about folks they would like to see on city commissions. Clearly, the arrival of a new mayor presents a monumental opportunity for Neighborhood Councils to try and impact this important aspect of city government.

When I know more about where suggestions should be sent, I will let you know.

NEIGHBORHOOD CAFÉ VIDEOS

Through the magic of technology, we have started providing the videos of our Neighborhood Council shows on our website.

Currently, you can view these half-shows on your computer:

“Neighborhood Improvement Projects” with Operation Clean Sweep and the Greater Griffith Park NC.

”Spring St./Main St. Revitalization” with the Downtown Los Angeles NC.

“Crenshaw Revitalization” with several NCs from the area.

“Crime Prevention” with the Arroyo Seco NC.

“Crime Prevention, Part II” with the LAPD Senior Lead Officers.

“Emergency Preparedness” with CANNDU and Harbor Gateway South NC.

“Graffiti Prevention” with Harbor City NC.

“Neighborhood Councils 101”. This was the first show, and is still helpful to those who don’t know what Neighborhood Councils are all about.

Click here for a listing of all the Neighborhood Café shows, or go to our website and click on Training>Neighborhood Cafe. Eventually, all of the shows will be transcribed, and the text will be available here.
