Re: BUDGET DAY PROGRAM
The details for Budget Day on October 1 are being finalized.
Parking will be free and you can download and print your own parking pass by going to our home page at www.lacityneighborhoods.com or clicking here .
Instructions for how to get to the parking area and where to go once you park can also be found on the home page, or by clicking here .
There will be free refreshments, of course.
8:15 a.m. Check in, collect your information packet, and enjoy a continental breakfast and the good company of others.
9:00 a.m. Introduction of the Mayor by City Council President Alex Padilla.
9:30 a.m. An explanation of (1) the entire budget process up to April 20 when the Mayor submits the budget to the City Council, (2) the overall goals for the new budget, and (3) the official survey.
10:15 a.m. Break
10:20 a.m. Breakout into smaller groups. The surveys will be handed out to each Neighborhood Council representative. Best practices for gathering additional stakeholder input and conducting effective meetings regarding this process will be shared. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
Noon Budget Day ends.
Using the suggestions of the Neighborhood Council working groups that met following last Budget Day, this new system will be different and simpler, and will reduce the workload on the Neighborhood Councils.
Please join us and be in the forefront of this historic process that is now attracting the attention of other cities throughout the state.
